Having to avoid certain products in your diet can be tough. Whether you can’t eat gluten, have to avoid lactose, are allergic to eggs or are a vegan or vegetarian. Finding products can be hard and Meal Planning a Free-From Diet even harder. I usually find ways of keeping my budget down by shopping specials and this week in Lidl the special is “Free-From” foods. Anyone with a specialized diet should stock up today.
If you have no Lidl near you, my advice is to look out for specials in your local supermarket and stock up on basics when you can to keep the costs down.

How to stick to your meal plan and keep costs down
- Never Shopping when Hungry – this one Vital
- Write a List and Stick to it.
- Avoid Packaged meals even if they are cheaper – cooking from scratch doesn’t always take time.
- Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit
- Try to add a Meat free meal to you diet
- Shop in Aldi and Lidl which keep their prices low.

I am throwing this Tummy Warming Beef or Veggie Casserole in the slow-cooker the great thing about it is you can make it meat-free and it is still as tasty.
TIP: Eating Meat free is tasty and brings the price down you can fill it full of beans to add protein.
These tasty Gluten free salmon Lasagnas are €1.99 and are a ready meal I would gladly try. I am a big fan of Salmon and Spinach so it is all good and my daughter saw these and begged me to get it. These with a tasty green salad from the garden will make a great dinner.
Tip: Stock up on special offer ready meals if they are a family favorite.
Wednesday is always Pizza night and you can even get Gluten-free Pizza for only €2.49 We make ours Gluten Free as my daughter is gluten intolerant but loves LOADS of cheese. Serve it with a Large salad and top with tasty vegetables.
Tip – One Cheat meal is okay during the week and you can always make it healthier with low-fat mozzerella topping and lots of healthy veg on top.
This Easy Lemon Chicken with Asparagus and Potatoes is such an easy and tasty meal and you can change it up to use what you have, for example I have a glut of green beans and they would be great instead of asparagus which id no longer in season. You could use Organic Tofu for a Meat-free version
TIP: You don’t have to follow a recipe to the letter if you want to try a meat free version do.

For Sunday Dinner I usually cook a roast dinner with Free- range chicken and lots of veggies from the garden.
Have this tasty two ingredient Mango ice-cream made with frozen Banana and mango for a dairy free version of ice-cream but if you can’t be bothered making ice-cream pick up this tasty lactose free chocolate or vanilla ice-cream for €1.99 in Lidl
