While trying to manage your Family Budgeting sometimes you have to watch the pennies to save for days out and fun times or bills! I do this by Supermarket Special Meal Planning, checking all the supermarkets online and going for the best offer and planning my meals around them.
Supermarket Specials or loss leaders are a great way to save money. Go through the special Leaflets or the online information of your local supermarkets. I planned my menu from Lidl’s Newsletter as that is my local Supermarket. From the specials write a list of meals your family will eat and add them to your Printable Meal Planner, below, to cover the days you are home cooking.

- Never Shopping when Hungry – this one Vital
- Write a List
- Avoid the “Special goods in the Middle aisle” unless you really need a chainsaw, paddling pool and a new dress
- “Shop” from your own freezer, fridge, and cupboard first
- Leave the kids/ teens /husband at home

I got these on Special last week to make these Turkey Burger and were going to have them on Saturday. But As my youngest was away we ended up having a curry as she is not a big fan of Indian food but the rest of us are!
TIP – If something is on special you can always freeze it if you don’t use it immediately
I read recently that Pork Mince makes a good Spaghetti and I am going to try it on Tuesday in my slow- cooker you can find my recipe HERE
TIP: Pasta is cheap and filling and you can get gluten free pasta readily
Wednesday is always Pizza night I think I would be disowned if it wasn’t kept a tradition. This week Gluten Free Pizza is down to 2.99 in Lidl and this week I am taking up that offer as I am off to the Fuelling Ambitions Roadshow in Cavan as part of my other job. So the Eldest will be heating up Pizza lol
Chicken legs are on special this and Lidl suggested Peri Peri Chicken with Salsa and Lime and that is a great suggestion I am going to serve it with buy valtrex online Mexican style rice.
TIP: A lot of the Supermarkets will provide recipes with their specials – try them
Fish is great for you and my supermarkets have two types of fish on special this week. I am getting the Cod with Garlic and Pepper which I will serve with a Homemade Dill sauce as I have lots of fresh Dill. Here is my quick Dill sauce recipe and good news it is Vegan.
Vegan Dill sauce
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh dill
- 1/2 tin of Coconut milk
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice (or lime juice)
- Pinch turmeric
- Salt & pepper to taste
The How to Bit
- In a mixing bowl, stir together all the ingredients.
- Alternately, combine all ingredients in blender or food processor, and whiz briefly to combine
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
TIP: Try and get fish into your family diets once in a while it is so good for growing bodies.
Beef Stir-fry is on special and I could make a stir-fry but I want something I can throw in the Slow-cooker. This Tasty but Low-Calorie Slow-cooker Beef Stroganoff is great and the beef stir-fry is great for making it.
TIP: Making recipes low fat is always a good idea
For Sunday Dinner I am going to make Garlic Roast Chicken as I got some on special a couple of weeks ago and it is in my freezer. And for dessert, I am making Easy and Cheap Plum Galette as plums are on Special. Specials are not just meat there are usually fruit and vegetables too
