This Week’s Meal Plan – and how I save money.
On with this week, as per usual, I checked the local Supermarkets for Special offers before I hit the shops. I always do this and see if I can use anything in my recipes as it saves money.
Lidl’s Special Offers this week
In Lidl this week they have special offers on Organic Vegetables for 49c including Butternut Squash. The Butternut Squash would be perfect to try my Butternut Squash and Spinach Korma or my Chicken and Butternut Squash Soup. They also have chicken breasts, lamb pieces, mince and pork chops for 3 euro, which I will be popping in my freezer.
Aldi Special Offers this week
For 59c Aldi have the following Fruit and Veg in their Super Six
- 3 Lemons
- Carrot and Parsnips
- 8 Red Apples
- Flat mushrooms
They also do a Super Six on Meat this week it is a Whole Chicken, Chicken Breasts, Stewing Beef I would be interested in all for €4.00. The Stewing Beef would be great for my Low-fat Beef Stroganoff .
Supervalu Special Offers this week
I love Supervalu’s 2 for 2 and 1 for 1 offers on Fruit and Veg. I especially love when they do Bananas, which my family loves – this week bananas are in!
They are also doing a great offer on Fresh Chicken Breasts – five for five euro. Which I grabbed for Tuesday’s recipe ( see the Meal Plan below).
I shall also be picking up the Strong Roots Sweet potatoes I mentioned last week as they are on special. Another thing I always get in Supervalu is their Green Tea they are the nicest own brand I have found and are cheap too.
These are my local Supermarkets and I don’t like to travel too far to shop.
Monday 30th Meal Plan
Low-fat Stir-fried Pork with Noodles – I am actually using an Old Slimming world recipe which I have adapted for our tastes. I promise I will take more pictures and share it with you next week.
I will be using the Supervalu Chicken Breast I picked up. And I will be trying this amazing recipe for Honey Balsamic Chicken from Damn Delicious.
Wednesday is usually Pizza night if you check out my posts weekly. But instead, I have decided to do my daughter’s favourite Tomato and Basil Mozzarella Puff Pasty slice. I will be sharing the recipe with you hopefully, on Friday.
We currently have beef pieces in the freezer so I will be my Beef goulash. Beef Goulash is a great slow cooker recipe and is handy for work days.
You can’t beat a bit of Fish on Friday and this Fantastic Fish pie is perfect for getting kids to try fish !! Also, Hake is on special offer in Lidl this weekend.
When you are busy on a Saturday the slow cooker is perfect for helping you. My slow cooker chili is a family favourite and I will do Nachos for the younger ones and I will do mine with a Baked Potato to make it healthier!
Did you know that Sunday is National Toffee day ( seriously there is a day for everything !!). So I will be cooking my Sticky toffee pudding cake . This will be perfect for dessert after a roast dinner.
Well, that is this weeks Menu, I hope you liked it. You can always find more Menus below and I have a handy post on Freezer Meals to make the most of those Special offers.
