How to stick to your meal plan and keep costs down
- Never Shopping when Hungry – this one Vital
- Write a List and Stick to it.
- Avoid packaged meals – cooking from scratch doesn’t always take time.
- Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit
- Try to add a Meat-free meal to you diet
- Shop in budget stores Aldi and Lidl which keep their prices low.

5 Handy Slow-cooker Tips
- Brown the meat first – stewing beef, lamb, and mince all do better if browned first
- Don’t remove the lid unless you have to every time you sneak a peek the cooking time will increase. That’s not ideal for a 4-8 hour cook!
- Always try to err on the side of “less is more” when it comes to adding food into the slow cooker, aiming to fill it around two-thirds full.
- Using slow-cooker Liners help greatly in clean up
- Add dairy and herbs at the end as they cook quickest
Slow-cooker Meal Planning for Fall recipes
Beef mince is on special everywhere this week it seems. The great thing about this Slow cooker chili is pop it on earlier in the day and it will be full of flavor. I use a timer plug so it will come on while I am in work so when we all get home the Chili is ready.
TIP: You can make this meat free with meat-free Mince
The great thing about slow-cooking is you can use cheaper cuts of meat like stewing beef. This tasty Amazing Slow Cooker Catalan Beef Casserole is lovely and can be served over rice instead of pasta.
Tip: Cheap cuts of meat work pharmacy no prescription great in the slow-cooker as the long cooking time breaks them down
Wednesday is always Pizza night you can even get Gluten-free Pizza for only €2.49 We make ours Gluten Free as my daughter is gluten intolerant but loves LOADS of cheese. Serve it with a Large salad and top with tasty vegetables.
Tip – You can cheat once during the week and you can always make it healthier with low-fat mozzerella topping and lots of healthy veg on top.
This Amazing Lemon Pepper chicken recipe from The Magical Slow-cooker is divine and so good . You do have to finish it in the oven for ten minutes but it is totally worth it !!
TIP: Browing meat before or after cooking can help add to the taste in a slow-cooker.
Seafood can be cooked in a slow-cooker but it is quicker than other meats – this tasty Amazing Spanish Tapas Prawns – Slow-cooker recipe is so good on Friday night.
Beef Marsala Curry in the Slowcooker is a perfect instead of Takeaway from the Indian. Saving you money and the smell is killer. Add some Naan Bread and mango chutney for a special meal.
